Tusha shinni/halwa

This dessert reminds me of my childhood, coming home from mosque with a sandwich bag full of tusha shinna, just enough for one person.

I had been dreaming about this last night, and first thing this morning, i had to make it.

Warning: This is not healthy!!

For this i used:

1/2 cup, 120g butter
1/2 cup, 113g ghee
1 large cinnamon stick
3 green cardamoms
4 cloves
1 cup, 120g plain flour
1 cup, 200g sugar
1 cup, 250ml water
Raisins for garnishing (you can use cashews or pistachios)

In a non stick pan, put in your butter and ghee and allow to melt on a low heat. Add your whole dry spices and stir. Then add your plain flour, and stir well so that the ingredients are incorporated together. Keep stirring, pressing down on the flour and butter for 15 - 20 minutes, until deep golden.

In a seperate saucepan, add your water and sugar and heat until the sugar has completely melted.

Once the flour mixture is cooked, pour in your sugar syrup mix and continuously keep stirring. The mixture should come together in one solid form, and come off the sides of the pan. Stir for 5 minutes, then add your raisins and mix well again.

Turn the heat off and serve when cooled down, with paratha or on it's own.

Hope you enjoy!

Yaz ❤
